When it comes to dating in the new century, there are some things that everyone should know. Call them dating rules, call them dating tips, call them anything you want (except late for dinner! Ha!), but below are a few hints to make dating as simple as possible.
- Be careful where you meet people. If you meet somebody at a bar, you cannot be surprised to find that ten years down the road, after you have been married and popped out a couple of kids, that he or she is an alcoholic. If you meet somebody in a low class place, the chances are pretty good that the person is low class. Besides, what are you doing hanging out in low class joints anyway? Instead, opt to meet people like church or the grocery store. These days, you can even meet and start dating people online!
- When you first start dating somebody, take things slow. If you go to far too fast you can give off the wrong impression and leave a less than wholesome image of yourself in the mind of the person you are dating. It is unlikely that a person that is perceived as loose and easy is also seen as serious dating material, so take your time and do not get physical before you are absolutely ready to.
- When dating somebody for an extended period of time, make sure you pull your weight in the relationship. Although tradition dictates that guys pay for most things early on in the dating process, after a while each person should take turns paying, lightening the load for the other person.
- Do not ditch you friends for the person that you are dating. This is one of the most common mistakes that people make, as friendships tend to last much longer than most relationships do. Too frequently, people start dating somebody new and forget about the friends who have been by their side for years. Besides, you are more interesting as a person if you have a lot of friends.
- Dating is a process of trial and error. Take something out of each person you date, even if it is just the knowledge that you do not want to date someone similar ever again. Do not get discouraged, keep dating different people.
